Seth Rozin, Producing Artistic Director, co-founded InterAct in 1988, and has since directed over 35 productions,
including Israel Horovitz's LEBENSRAUM (1999 Barrymore Awards for Outstanding Direction of a
Play, Outstanding Overall Production of a Play, and Outstanding Ensemble), Gibbons’ PERMANENT
COLLECTION (2004 Barrymore nomination for Outstanding Overall Production) and IT'S ALL TRUE
(2001 Barrymore nominations for Outstanding Director and Outstanding Overall Production). He
has twice been named "Best Director" by the Philadelphia Inquirer for the world premiere of
Gibbons' 6221 in 1993 and for LEBENSRAUM. Other favorite productions with InterAct include A
HOUSE WITH NO WALLS, KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN, BLUE/ORANGE, NIXON'S NIXON,
LONELY PLANET and GOD'S COUNTRY. Seth has also directed for the Fountain Theatre in Los Angeles, Blue Heron
Theatre and the 45th Street Theatre in New York, as well as regionally with Act II Playhouse, Venture Theatre,
Philadelphia Theatre Company, Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival, and the University of Pennsylvania. As a
playwright, Seth is the recipient of two fellowships from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and his first two produced
plays - MEN OF STONE and MISSING LINK -- garnered Barrymore Award nominations for Outstanding New Play in
2001 and 2002, respectively. He is also the author of REINVENTING EDEN, produced at InterAct last season. Seth
has served on funding and/or award panels for the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, New Jersey State Council on the
Arts, Philadelphia Theatre Initiative, Philadelphia Cultural Fund, Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Theatre Communications
Group, and the F. Otto Haas Award for an Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist. He has served on the Boards of the
National New Play Network, Women's Theatre Festival, Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia, New Paradise
Laboratories and Fresh Visions Youth Theatre.
Dave Brown, Managing Director, is a Pennsylvania native whose art has been the business of art for 15 years. For
five years in New Orleans, Dave was the Marketing Director of the New Orleans Ballet Association, the gulf south
region's premiere dance presenter. Prior to his time in Louisiana, he lived in Austin, Texas, leading the marketing efforts
for the bold new plays of Frontera@Hyde Park Theater while co-producing original works by the Nerve Dance
Company. Returning to Philadelphia, he co-founded Gas & Electric Arts with his wife Lisa Jo Epstein. For two seasons,
Dave worked at the Painted Bride Art Center as the Director of Marketing before joining InterAct Theatre Company in
the fall of 2005.
David Golston, Director of Marketing & P.R., began working with InterAct in September 2005. Prior to joining InterAct, he worked for 6 years as Director of Marketing for Unicorn Theatre, a small professional theatre located in Kansas City, Missouri, as well as a freelance graphic designer and marketing consultant for several up-and-coming arts organizations in the Kansas City area. While attending the University of Missouri - Kansas City, where he completed a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, he also completed internships for the New York-based public relations firm KJPR Publicity, Promotions and Artist Relations and Cornerstone Foundation, a Kansas City-based non-profit organization. From 2003-2008, David also served as General Manager for the National New Play Network, an organization of theatres nationwide that is dedicated to the development and continued life of new plays.
Julie j. Grega, Audience Services & Sales Manager, is a 2007 graduate of DeSales University where she received a B.A. in Theatre. Following graduation, she spent a year working with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival at DeSales as the Development/Marketing Assistant where she was introduced to many accomplished theatre professionals including a great number from the Philadelphia area. Originally from a small coal mining town in the northeastern corner of the state, she is anxious to explore the wonders of the city and is thrilled to become a member of the burgeoning Philadelphia theatre community.
Dwight Wilkins, Director of Education, is a playwright, director, filmmaker, and tteaching artist. He came on board as InterAct’s Education Director in the summer of 2006. Before coming to InterAct, Dwight worked at Freedom Theatre as a Dramaturg and Production Associate. He also taught Drama for one year at a charter school in Philadelphia. In addition to his work at InterAct, Dwight works as a Teaching Artist for Philadelphia Young Playwrights and the Big Picture Alliance. He holds masters degrees in Theatre and Film.
Rebecca Wright, Literary Director and Dramaturg, began working at InterAct in the 2002-2003 season as a literary intern and assistant stage manager. She stayed on through the 2005 season as a program assistant, and is delighted to now be back after a two year hiatus, during which she earned an MA in Performance and Culture from the University of London. Rebecca is also a dramaturg and director. Her Philadelphia directing credits include HOLD PLEASE with Eternal Spiral Project and Larry Loebell’s THE BALLAD OF JOHN WESLEY REED.
Joshua Lieberman, Production Stage Manager, graduated from University of the Arts in 2006 with a focus in stage management and was InterAct's House Manager for the past two seasons. Joshua has worked on several productions including AMERICAN SUBLIME, REINVENTING EDEN, SINCE AFRICA for InterAct; BUG for Theatre Exile; and SQUID & FISHY for Madhouse Theater Company. He has also worked closely with Papermill Playhouse's education department working on The Rising Star Awards, an educational program dedicated to recognizing rising talent amongst youth in education.
is a graduate of The University of the Arts. He has been professionally involved with several theatre companies, both locally and internationally. Credits include Interact Theatre Co, Pig Iron Theatre, Gas and Electric Arts, Living Arts Theatre, Gravity Works Theatre, Contemporary Stage Company, and The Delaware Theatre Co. He also is co-artistic director of insperado, an initiative based theatre company dedicated to producing multi-media, multi-medium works that push the audience to experience theatre in new and exciting ways.
Peter Whinnery, Lighting Designer, has served as InterAct's designer in residence since 1989 and has designed the
lighting and/or sets for over 35 productions including LEBENSRAUM, IT'S ALL TRUE, BLUE/ORANGE, PERMANENT
COLLECTION, NIXON'S NIXON, SINCE AFRICA, THE FEAST OF THE FLYING COW, DRINK ME, AUNT DAN AND
LEMON, BLACK RUSSIAN, LONELY PLANET, MOROCCO, GOD'S COUNTRY, 6221, HOUSE WITH
NO WALLS, and most recently SKIN IN FLAMES. Peter has also designed for The Wilma Theater, Act II Playhouse, Painted Bride Art Center, Venture Theater,
PlayWorks, Bryn Mawr College, and the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches theatrical design for the Theatre
Arts Program and serves as the Technical Advisor to Student Performing Arts.
Dano Madden, Emerging Playwright in Residence, grew up in Boise, Idaho. His plays have been produced by Actors Theatre of Louisville, The Source Festival, Mile Square Theatre, Northwest Playwrights Alliance, Idaho Theatre for Youth, Kitchen Theatre Company, Rutgers University, The University of Tulsa, and Sand and Glass Productions, among others. Dano’s plays have received readings and/or development at Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company, Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, Last Frontier Theatre Conference, Boise Contemporary Theater, Boston Theatre Works, the NNPN’s University Playwrights Workshop, and the Bonderman. He has received numerous Kennedy Center/ACTF awards including: the 2008 Quest for Peace Playwriting Award for BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN SOLDIER; the 2007 National Student Playwriting Award for IN THE SAWTOOTHS, and the 1997 National Short Play Award for DROP. Dano was a runner-up for Primary Stages’ 2005 Bug-N-Bub Playwriting Award and a finalist for the 2008 Cherry Lane Theatre Mentor Project. His work has been published by Samuel French, Inc., Applause Books (Best American Short Plays 2005-2006), Playscripts, Inc. and by the Northwest Playwrights Alliance. He was the recipient of the 2001 Idaho Commission on the Arts Fellowship in playwriting. Dano was recently named one of “50 Playwrights to Watch” by The Dramatist magazine. He received his BA from Boise State University and his MFA from Rutgers University.
Kia Feindt, Literary Intern, spent most of her life in Europe and particularly in France where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Performing Arts specialized in Theatre and another one in Modern Letters. She also had the opportunity to act, write and direct children in amateur and semi-professional plays.
She hopes to become a published writer someday and is counting on her internship at InterAct to help her discover which theatrical path she could take.
Jessica Hurley, Literary Intern, recently moved to Philadelphia from Paris where she trained as an actor and dramaturg at the Ecole Jacques Lecoq.
Prior to this she attained degrees in Literature from the Universities of Oxford and Sussex, specializing in drama and political fiction. She has been involved as an actor, producer or director in the 2002/2003 company of THE OXFORD REVUE, the ensemble company CRACK HORSE and the performance art/theatre group RAIDEN!!! and has acted in UK premieres of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE and JACQUES AND HIS MASTER.
, has written numerous plays, including seven that have made their World Premiere at InterAct: PRETENDING TO AMERICA, 6221, AXIS SALLY,
BLACK RUSSIAN, BEE-LUTHER-HATCHEE, PERMANENT COLLECTION, and A HOUSE WITH NO WALLS. Other plays include
THE EXHIBITION and HOMER. His plays have also been seen at the National Playwrights
Conference at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center, off-off-Broadway at Blue Heron Theatre,
Northlight Theatre, Florida Stage, Unicorn Theatre, Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, New Repertory
Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, Center Stage, Ensemble Theatre of Cincinnati, Kirk Douglas
Theatre, Aurora Theatre, and others. He is the recipient of six playwriting fellowships from the
Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a Roger L. Stevens Award from The Fund for New American Plays, two Barrymore
Awards for Outstanding New Play, an NAACP Theatre Award, a Barrie and Bernice Stavis Playwriting Award, and a
Pew Fellowship in the Arts.
