is the founder, President and CEO of Graboyes Commercial Window Company. In 1984 she began Graboyes seven- months pregnant in the living room of her townhouse in Center City. Today, the company is one of the largest 100% women owned business in the Philadelphia region and has been recognized as one of the top 50 women – owned business in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Terry’s first endeavor upon college graduation was working in the Milton Shapp administration as a lobbyist under Helene Wolgemuth. Two years later she remained in Harrisburg and took the position of Director of Governmental Affairs for the Pennsylvania Retailers’ Association. In 1979 Terry returned to the Philadelphia area to learn the window business from her father, Joseph Graboyes, founder of Graboyes Windows and Doors, a residential company in Norristown. In 1984 she moved back to Philadelphia and began her own Window Company. After active involvement in countless campaigns throughout her professional career, in 2006 Terry ran as a Democratic Candidate for the 175th District in Philadelphia. Regardless of Terry’s vigorous and positive campaign, Mike O’Brien won the seat against Terry and Anne Dicker.
Terry supports numerous organizations including the National Association of Women Business Owners, The Forum of Executive Women, Women’s Way, Maternity Care Coalition, Pathways, and the Women’s Law Project. A Philadelphia native, Terry is passionate about the local Theatre Community. She is the founding Board Chair of 1812 Productions and has also served on the boards of the Arden Theatre, the Walnut Street Theatre and the Theatre Alliance of Greater Philadelphia. Ms Graboyes has recently joined the Boards of Directors of Society Hill Synagogue and Pennsylvanians for Effective Government (PEG – PAC). A graduate of the Philadelphia High School for Girls and West Chester University, Terry still resides in the Center City townhouse where she started her business. Terry is the proud mother of son, Noah Herman, who graduated from Muhlenberg College with a B.A. in Theatre and is now pursuing his career in Philadelphia.
